Zyxel Group has successfully implemented the Taiwan Intellectual Property Management System (TIPS) established by the Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs, and set forth its corporate intellectual property management system and the corresponding management policies to keep protecting the patents and trade secrets owned by the Company.

Implementation Status
The Company reported the intellectual property management-related matters in the 16th meeting of 5th Board of Directors (on May 05, 2025).
Patent protection policy
- Training: to include the course “Intellectual Property Rights” as the mandatory training course for new employees engaged in R&D, covering the introduction to patent systems and promotion about prevention of infringement. The patent training courses and patent application review mechanism enable everyone to understand the valuable patent types.
- Encouraging innovative proposals: to establish the patent application incentive system for encouraging all colleagues to submit innovative proposals. The internal patent applications and maintenance are managed by the patent proposal management system.
- Patent application assessment: to conduct the multi-dimensional evaluation on any patent application (patentability, availability for the infringement and the enforcement, and design-around efforts). Considering high expenses for the patent application and maintenance, only valuable proposals will be submitted for patent applications.
- Issued patents and patent applications
- 152 issued patent (including 23 US patents, 72 TW patents, 39 CN patents, and 18 patents issued in other countries).
- 33 active patents (7 US patents, 14 TW patents, 10 CN patents, 1 DE patents and 1 UK patents), and 11 patent applications are pending.
- The Company assesses the value of the active patents every two years, in order to control patent maintenance expenses effectively.
Trade Secret Protection
Each department defines related protection policies for maintaining confidential documents according to the Company's “Guidelines for Classified Management of Confidential Documents”, and assists the management of company trade secrets and internal confidential documents.
- R&D results and product document management.
- Establish the product documentation management system and application system to maintain and manage the related documents and R&D results derived from the product development processes.
- All R&D's design documents are stored and maintained in the Company's storage devices with access control.
- The internal WIKI system of the Company is created for knowledge sharing among the team members. The Company will continue to build up the inter-departmental knowledge / technology platform for integrating the competitive advantages among R&D teams and speed up the product development.
